There are several different types of beaches in Paphos, ranging from rocky coves to wide soft sandy crystal clear waters.
When people talk about Paphos and ask whether there are any nice beaches, the majority of people tend to think about the sea front near the harbour and as a result, say that Paphos does not really have many nice beaches. However, Paphos itself has approximately 50 klms of coastline and believe me, in those 50klms, there are some lovely beaches to bathe on!
What Are Paphos Beaches Like
Paphos is not as well renowned for its beaches as other resorts in Cyprus, such as Ayia Napa and Protaras. However, Paphos certainly does have its fair share of the many nice Cyprus beaches. In fact, many of the beaches in Paphos, now hold the ‘Blue Flag’ Award.
The beaches in Paphos are very varied and some are sandy, some are pebbles and some are a mixture of the two. You will also find rocky coastline coves, many of which are secluded. As a result, these offer the perfect places to enjoy relaxing, with your own privacy.
How Many Beaches Are In Paphos:
Paphos has no fewer than 27 public beaches, which all offer the perfect place to relax. The beaches are a popular place with families to visit and enjoy the crystal blue waters that Paphos has to offer.
How Big Are The Beaches In Paphos:
The size of the beaches in Paphos really do vary. As previously mentioned, you will find some very small secluded beaches, along with many large ones too. The two most popular beaches large beaches along the coast of Paphos include:
- Geroskipou Beach
- Coral Bay
Useful Tip: The Municipal Beach of Polis and Latchi beach are much bigger.

Situated just off Poseidonos Avenue in the Kato Paphos tourist area.
Coral Bay:
Probably one of the most well-known beaches in the area and located in Coral Bay. A regular bus service runs from Paphos Harbour to Coral Bay every 10 minutes throughout the day.
Dasoudi Beach – Municipality Camping site of Polis Chrysochous:
Located 30klms from Paphos itself near the quiet town of Polis on the northwest corner of the island, this beach is popular with both locals and tourists.
Faros Beach:
Faros beach is located close to the lighthouse in Paphos and is a popular beach with tourists.
Geroskipou Beach:
One of the more popular beaches in the Ppahos district and located about 3klms from the main tourist area in Paphos.
Laourou Beach:
This is a sandy beach located in Pegeia close to Coral Bay. It is one of the popular beaches close to Paphos.
Municipal Baths of Paphos:
Located in the centre of the tourist area in Kato Paphos, this beach is very popular with the locals. Due to its proximity to the Harbour, the beach is commonly referred to by tourists as the Paphos Harbour Beach.
Municipal Beach of Polis:
Located on Akamas Peninsula this sandy beach stretches along the coastline.
Pachyammos Beach:
This is a small beach that is located in the main tourist area of Paphos in front of the popular hotels that are on the coastline.
Vrysoudia A Beach:
Located in Kato Paphos.
Vrysoudia B Beach:
Located in the Kato Paphos beach area.
Beach Facilities:
Many of the more popular beaches in and around Paphos have facilities onsite such as:

- Showers

These facilities are obviously a big plus point, especially if you have children. However, as mentioned previously, there are a number of beaches in Paphos that are a little of the beaten track. As a result, they do not have any facilities and if you do visit them, you may need to take your own previsions!
Most of the popular public beaches in and around Kato Paphos, Coral Bay and Latchi have beach facilities. Due to this fact, if you are searching for beaches to visit with your family, these are worth considering. If you require facilities such as showers, toilets and places to eat, the public beaches are a safe option.
Lifeguards:
Many of the public beaches in Paphos do have Lifeguards monitoring the beaches throughout the day. This is especially the case, during peak periods but some of the more secluded beaches do not. Obviously, if you are intending to visit one of the beaches in Paphos with your children, it recommended that you choose one of the public beaches that have Lifeguards present.
Signs:
You should always read any signs that are displayed on or near the beach area that warn you of any dangers. It is advisable to adhere to those warning signs if they are present. The warning signs are there for a good reason and they are there for your safety.
Kato Paphos Beaches:
There are several beaches located in the Kato Paphos area, including a couple of Blue Flag beaches. Some of the beaches are small and can get a little crowded in the peak Summer months, especially on the weekends. Below are a few of the beaches in Kato Paphos:

Private Hotel Beaches In Paphos Region:
The beautiful coastline is home to many of the top hotels in Paphos. As a result, the majority of these hotels all have their own private sandy beaches. Many people visiting Paphos do not actually realise this and as a result, never experience these beaches. These hotels do have some of the best beaches in the centre of Paphos!

Walk Along The Beach Promenades In Paphos:
One of the wonderful plus points about Paphos is that it has a boardwalk/promenade along the beach front. This promenade can be accessed either through the hotels themselves or by entrance points along the access roads or car parks on the front.
The first hotel on the promenade is The Constantinou Bros Asimina Suites Hotel. This hotel is situated in the Yeroskipou area of Paphos on the main road (known as ‘Theas Afroditis Avenue’). Along this road, is where you will find many luxury hotels offering a lovely walkway along the front of the hotels and along the beach.
Along the boardwalk/promenade in Paphos are several other top hotels such as the:

All these hotels have their own beaches but you can enjoy them as you stroll along the promenade. The promenade provides a lovely setting to soak up the sun or stop for a quite drink at one of the hotel beach bars on route.
Kato Paphos Public Beach:
A little further along the promenade, in the Kato Paphos area, you will find the Alexander The Great Beach Hotel. Next to this hotel is small a public beach. Another promenade runs from the Alexander The Great Beach Hotel, along to the Harbour front in Paphos. This is a lovely walk during the day, by the Annabelle hotel and Almrya hotel. On route to the harbour, there are a couple of nice beaches, beach bars and restaurants.
Beaches Near Paphos:
Although the main tourist area in Paphos has several beaches, there are also many popular beaches near Paphos. Coral Bay is located approximately 8 miles (14 kilometers) along the coast from Paphos itself. In addition to the popular beaches of Coral Bay, there are also beaches in Polis and Latchi too. These beaches include the municipal beach and the Blue Lagoon, which are very popular with both locals and tourists.
Sandy Beaches Near Paphos
If you are looking for long sandy beaches in Paphos, then your best choice would be either Geroskipou Beach or Coral Bay. These both offer lovely sandy beach and are within easy access of paphos either by car or bus. Other sandy beaches in the Paphos region are near Polis and Latchi.
Paphos Beach Restaurants
Most of the larger more popular beaches in the Paphos region have restaurants. These restaurants are located on the beach themselves or very close by. These restaurants vary in cuisine and offer a selection of food and drinks throughout the day.
Coral Bay Road
A couple of miles further around the coast from the Paphos Harbour is the road leading to Coral Bay. Along this road, you will find several 5 star hotels such as the:

- King Evelthon Beach Hotel & Resort
Once again, these hotels have their own beaches. In addition, there are also promenades that run along the coastline and passed the beaches.
Paphos Nudist/Naturish Beaches
Although there are no nudist beaches in Paphos and it is not encouraged in Cyprus, there are several places that do attract nudist bathing. If you are wanting to bathe naked, then you should first check the protocol and laws regarding nudist bathing in Cyprus.
A couple of beaches in the Paphos district and Pissouri Beach between Paphos and Limassol are probably the most common. This is simply as these areas are very secluded. The Sea Caves near Coral Bay are also used by naked bathers.
Paphos Turtle Beach
Lara beach is situated on the Akamas Peninsula and is the home to the Green Back and Loggerhead Turtle. The beach is a little of the beaten track and a 4 wheel drive car is better suited to the roads that lead to the beach. The beach itself is long and sandy and there is a conservation project for the beach. This project is in place to help protect the turtles as they nest and lay their eggs.
